Carroll Johnson Obituary

Carroll Theodore Johnson, 65 of Hurlock, MD, departed this life on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health at Easton in Easton, MD. Carroll Johnson was born November 20, 1954 in Hurlock, to the late Walter Isaac Johnson and Mary Louise Cephas Johnson.
 
Carroll Johnson received his early education from Dorchester County Public School System and graduated with a High School Diploma from North Dorchester High School in Hurlock, MD in 1972. There he participated in band and track.  He attended the following institutions of higher education, Bowie State College, Salisbury State College, and Delaware Technical School.  He was a certified machinist. He worked as a machinist, welder and a computer operator in various industries including ADP, Inc., Preston 151, Maryland Plastics, and Airpax, now known as Sensata.
 
Carroll was an avid fan of Star Trek. He enjoyed karate, working on cars, computers, and videography.  He often recorded special events and family memories. He was not shy about being on stage and was in almost every play directed and produced by his sister Dr Kay McElvey. He was always eager to share his gifts. While spending time with his family and friends at Scotts UMC in Trappe MD, he also performed in plays and sang with Scotts UMC Gospel Choir.  Carroll played basketball with the North Dorchester Alumni Basketball team.  He volunteered at Scotts UMC After School Tutorial Program and The Harriet Tubman School of Excellence.
 
As a member of Mt Calvary UMC in Preston, MD, Carroll served in many leadership positions.  He was a Certified Lay Servant, president of Unity Fellowship, member of the Men’s Choir, member of the Building Committee and helped the Trustee Committee.  He also assisted with playing the piano for the choir whenever the need presented itself. He formerly served as Administrative Council Chairperson, as a member of the Lay Leadership Committee and as a member of the Finance Committee.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Wordell Johnson Sr and his sister Dr. Kay McElvey.
 
He leaves to mourn, his daughters Tonya Pritchett (Marcell), Trappe, MD and Christina Nichols, MD; grandsons Tomari Pritchett, Trappe, MD, Treyvar Pritchett, Trappe, MD, Michael Ray, III, MD; great grandson, Tomari Pritchett Jr, Trappe, MD; brother, Michael Johnson (Judy), Severn, MD; sister-in-law, Emma (Connie) Johnson, Hurlock, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
