Billie Rainey-Lake Obituary

Treasuring and believing in God’s word, Billie LaCarol Rainey-Lake, affectionately known as “Carol”,
“Bean”, “Mom-Mom”, “Mommy” and “Ma” acknowledged and received God’s beckoning call on June
17, 2020, at home surrounded by her beloved family. LaCarol was 58 years old.

LaCarol was born on November 23, 1961 in Fordyce, Arkansas to the late James Henry Rainey, Sr. and Carolyn Jean Wade Rainey.

LaCarol accepted Christ and was baptized at Zion United Methodist Church in Las Vegas Nevada, following her graduation from Western High School. She was also an Alumna of Les Femmes Douze (The Ladies Twelve) Debutants, Las Vegas Chapter of 1979. She received her formal education from The University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff, AR and The University of Nevada – Las Vegas.

LaCarol lived in Las Vegas, Nevada, until moving with family to Maryland in 2013. LaCarol became a member of Bell’s AME Church in Denton, Maryland.

LaCarol became the first Black flight attendant for E G & G, Special Projects where she retired after thirty years of dedicated service. Flying was one of the joys of her life and something she had always wanted to do. During that time, on one of her flights, she met her husband in 1984, and they have been together for the last thirty-six years until her passing.

She ventured to own a daycare center alongside her family. LaCarol opened the Children's First Challenge Day Care Learning Center in 1992.

She loved to travel with her family and made each excursion memorable whether it was by air or their frequent road trips. On the numerous road trips from Las Vegas to Maryland, she would do her share of relief driving.

Besides her parents, her beloved eldest son, William Wayne Lake, III, preceded her in death.

Lacarol leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory her devoted husband, William Wayne Lake, Jr., her sons, Daniel James Nadel Lake and Christopher Johnathan Lake, her sister, Yolanda Palestine Rainey-Jackson (Rickey), her brothers, James Henry Rainey, Jr. and Edwin Fitzgerald Rainey: her brother-
in-law, Stanley Nadel Lake, Sr. (Deborah); five grandchildren, William Wayne Lake, IV, Cai’Anne LaCarol Mae Lake, Jasiah Canty Lake, Johnathan Jordan Lake and Zuri Lynette Billie Lake; a special niece, Jaykala Rainey and a host of loving relatives and friends.
