Bertha Elenora Frieson was born on July 20, 1940 in Easton, MD to the late Fowler and Rosie Bantum. She was raised in Trappe, MD. She departed this life on October 3, 2021 at University of Maryland Medical Center in Laurel, MD at the age of 81.
Bertha was educated at Robert Russum Moton High School in Easton, MD. She retired from Allen Family Foods and later went to work for McCroy’s Laundry for over 40 years until they closed the business.
Bertha was a member of Bethel AME Church in Easton, MD where she was baptized. Her church family gave her the name “Queen”. She believed in being a help to her church and held many positions there. She was the President of Pastor Aide Committee, President of the Gospel Choir, she served on the Elizabeth Breeze Missionary Society, lay organizations and stewardess.
Bertha enjoyed doing her puzzle books, looking at her favorite TV shows like, Gun Smoke and other westerns, Family Feud, all of Tyler Perry’s movies, Harlem Nights, and Sister Act. She also loved listening to her gospel music, pay day candy bars, going to the Amish Market to get her pretzels.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Frieson, her parents, Fowler and Rosie Bantum, two sons, Jacob Turner and Lorenzo Turner, one granddaughter, Shantese Turner, one great-grandson, Deonte Turner, two sisters, Delmar Copper and Wendy Turner, four brothers, Wardell Turner, William Turner, Wayman Turner, and Floyd Green.
Bertha leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Cindy Turner and Lorraine Turner, two sons, Bruce Turner (Kathy), Thomas Frieson (Paulette), two sisters, Joan Turner, Evelyn Gibson, one brother Tennyson Turner, one uncle Douglas Gibson, 22 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Gladys Tuner and Diane Turner, daughters-in-law, Myrna Russum, Tracy Turner, Angelia Wilson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
