Bernice Wilson Obituary

Bernice Wilson of Unionville, MD departed this life on Thursday January 26, 2023 at University of Maryland Medical Center at Easton.

Born on July 3, 1949 to the late James and Rosetta (Copper) Wilkins, Sr. She was educated in the Talbot County Public Schools. Bernice worked  38 years for The Dixon House in Easton. She held the positions as a cook and server. She came to know and love many of the residents and their families while she was there. She enjoyed working with Bert and their many laughs together in the kitchen.

Bernice loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Holy Church under the leadership of the late Elder Granville Brittingham and then Elder Agnes Claggett until the closing of the church. Then she became a member of Love Fellowship Worship Center under Pastor Roselee Wilkins under the watch care of Bishop Samuel Brisco.  During her memberships at the churches Bernice served faithful as a Praise & Worship Leader, Substitute Sunday School Teacher, Choir and Finance Committee Member. Recently, she surprised us with her skills in playing the drums. Bernice would always come up with new songs to sing during the service. She loved reading the word and after her morning devotions she would do crossword puzzles and coloring pages if she wasn’t riding with her husband on his trash route. She raised her grandson Bruce (BJ) from three months old and then helped with her great-grandson Alexander who stole her heart, but she loved all of them.

Bernice is survived by her loving husband James of 52 years. Also left to cherish her memories one son, Bruce Wilson (Bridget) of Cambridge, MD; Two grandchildren Brandon Thomas of Dover, DE and Bruce Wilson (BJ)of Easton, MD; Three great-grandchildren Brennan Thomas, Kamani Jenkins, and Alexander Wilson. Three sisters; Darlene Wilmer of Denton, MD, Roselee Wilkins and Elizabeth (Ronald) Nichols both of Preston, MD.  Two brothers Isacc Copper (Christine) and Charles Wilkins both of Easton, MD.
