Aretha Hines Obituary

Aretha Juliette Hines was born on March 4, 1969, to William and Catherine Hines, in Easton, MD. She attended Queen Anne’s County Public Schools.

Growing up in Batts Neck was nothing short of living life for Aretha. She enjoyed being around her family and friends enjoying baseball games and hanging at the Pool Hall. Her love for fashion and style was to be compared to none. If Aretha clothes and hair wasn’t right, she wasn’t coming outside. She always had to match from head to toe and hair had to be in place before she made her grand entrance anywhere. Whether she was going to work or to the grocery store she was always dressed to the nines; she would say I don’t know who I might meet, lol.

In 1989 she welcomed her oldest baby boy, Cornell Ryans into the world. At this time Aretha was overjoyed and truly blessed to become a mother. August of 1992, she welcomed her 2nd baby boy, Carl Mealey III and she was beyond ecstatic. She thought no love compared until her grandaughter; Lyric was born in February 2013. The world was perfect and so was her granddaughter. If Lyric wanted it Lyric was going to get it; she was her real-life princess, and it showed.

Aretha was the friend that everyone needed. If she could do anything for her family and friends, she would without hesitation. She was big on love for others and there was no greater love than what she had and showed to her mother “Muffie”. Her Mother was second to none; the love that they shared was undeniable and unbreakable. The relationship between mother and daughter ran deep, as well as father

and daughter because her and “Hines” were 2 peas in a pie.

If Aretha wasn’t working, she was traveling; thanks to her best friend/sister Pooh for dragging her everywhere she didn’t want to be, lol. Pooh would tell her to pack a bag, and she wouldn’t ask where they were going, she would just say what time do I need to be ready. Over the years Aretha would start dragging Juaniece and the cycle continued. Flying was her therapy, and she loved it.

Preceding her in death: her father, William Hines, brothers, Mercer and Stanley Turner; aunts, Anna Brown and Audrey White, and uncle, Dwight Roberts.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Catherine Hines, two sons, Cornell Ryans and Carl Mealey III, granddaughter, Lyric Mealey, three sisters, Patty (Kermit) Travers, Mary Bordley and April Bordley, three uncles, David (Sharon) Hicks, Gregory and Tyrone (Arlene) Roberts, one sister-in-law, Francis Turner, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
