Alvin R Cain Jr. “Junior” passed away on June 25, 2023 at the age of 84, just a few weeks after his wife of over 60 years, Joan. We believe he died of a broken heart.
Alvin was born on February 9, 1939, in Bridgetown, MD to Alvin R Cain, Sr. and Beulah Ann Cain.
Alvin joined the United States Air Force when he was only 18 years old and was in the Air Force for 22 years, assigned to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) for most of his career. He traveled to and lived in various places around the world during his military service.
Alvin married Joan R Boyce on June 9, 1962. He had a zeal for Harley Davidson motorcycles. In the 1960s he was active in the Royal Knights Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club. After retiring from the Air Force circa 1979, he went to work for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as an investigative agent. In 1995 he and Joan decided to build their forever home in her hometown of Ridgley Maryland. He stood back while Joan chose her ultimate forever home plans. In 1996 he retired from HUD. In his retirement he kept up with all the inner workings of the residents of Ridgley, being called by some “Ridgley’s Unofficial Mayor”.
Alvin loved working on and racing classic cars, especially his prize 1966 Nova (which he still keeps in the garage). Alvin was awarded several 1st Place trophies at shows he attended. He was the founder of the Sunset Cruisers Car Club and later, was an active member of the Red Line Cruiser Car Club. His son, Alvin III (Roger) joined him in his passion and has been working to maintain a 1986 Monte Carlo SS and a 2004 red Mustang Cobra his dad gifted to him.
Alvin is survived by his brother Charles (Damon), sisters Nilah, Ellen (Bobbi), Charlotte (Poncho) and her husband Arnold, Vicki (Mouse), son Alvin R. Cain III (Roger) and his wife Roberta, and Paula Cain Geer (Denny) and her husband Wayne, his nephew Ronnie and his wife Willia, grandchildren Laronda Richardson, Jackson Cain, Sophia Cain, and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joan (Snooks), daughter, Shina Boyce and grandson Jered Cain.
