Allen Percy Jackson 80 years old of Preston, MD departed this life into eternal peace on Friday, March 27, 2026. Allen Percy Jackson aka “Dickie” as he was often referred to by his family and friends. He was born on September 9, 1945, to the late Elmer and Myrtle Jackson in Talbot County.
Dickie grew up in Cordova, MD and received his formal education in Talbot County Public School attending Robert Russa Moton High School in Easton, MD. Dickie held various jobs throughout Talbot County and had a great work ethic. He continued to work and live his life in spite of his health issues.
Dickie was a very quiet, reserved, down to earth person. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Dickie was a man of few words, but his presence was always felt when he was around. Dickie had many interest; he enjoyed all sports, baseball, basketball and especially watching his favorite football team the “Washington Commanders”.
Dickie became a faithful member of St. Matthew United Methodist church after his Uncle Jesse Groce led him to Christ, through his leadership, guidance and example. Dickie was a faithful member and served in the Men’s Choir, on the Usher Board and was a Trustee for many years.
Dickie was a member of the Samuel T. Hemsley Elks Lodge #974 in Easton, MD. As a member he held various positions: Leading Knight and House Chairman. He was a dutiful member, volunteering and working tirelessly for the community.
Dickie was preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Myrtle Jackson, four brothers: Walter Groce, Elmer Jackson, Jr., (Mickey), Larry Jackson, and Arthur Lee Jackson (Booty),
Cherishing Dickie’s memories are: a devoted friend and companion: Shirley Thomas; three son: Allen Murray (White Plains, MD), Anthony Murray (Lancaster, PA), and Damian Jackson (Easton, MD): three sisters; Rosalee Lofland (Sam) Denton, MD, Irene Jackson and Faye Greene (Bob), Federalsburg, MD: seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
