Barbara Ann Thompson Magee, 74, better known as ‘Bobbi’ to family and friends, transitioned on June 3, 2019 at Dover Bay Health Hospital.  Barbara was the daughter of the late Gertrude and Rudolph Thompson.

Barbara had a love of learning, especially medicine, leading her to earn a degree in Nursing from Delaware Technical & Community College.  If anyone wanted to know what was medically wrong with them, all they would need to do is ask her. I told her doctor that I know he got tired of her answering his questions, before he could even finish asking them.   Although her love for medicine consumed her occupationally, she always dreamed of becoming a superstar singer. Those family and friends, who knew her well, are well aware of her love of singing, more than anything else, except buying expensive clothes.  Although she was adept at nursing, singing, and shopping, she was a master at faking an asthma attack to get out of her share of work. Usually, when it was Bobbi’s turn to wash the dishes or clean the house, she would come down with an asthma attack in a heartbeat that lasted until the last pot was washed.  Now, that’s the Bobbi we remember.

Preceding her in death were her parents.  Barbara leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of thirty-five years, Carlton Magee; two sons, Dana Thompson of Wilmington, DE, and Giovanni Thompson of Dover, DE; six grandchildren, Anya Goslee, Devonte Thompson, Autumn Reid Thompson, Genesis Thompson, Gasanni Thompson, Giodanni Thompson, all of Dover, DE; two brothers, Rudolph Thompson of Newark, DE and Ronald Thompson of Wilmington, DE; two sisters, Pauline (Halvin) Blocksom of Wilmington, DE and Bonnie Kay (James) Polk of Seaford, DE; two special nieces that were like sisters, Faye Cannon of Seaford, DE and Cova Thompson of Seaford, DE.

To Barbara's Loved Ones,

Where there is love...any life is too short.

Barbara and I worked together for Delaware Elwyn Adult Day Care Program where she loved to sing as she worked. Barbara was very classy and always dressed so elegantly with her matching accessories. She was a hard worker, very kind and devoted to those who attended the program. I am so glad to read that she fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse and continuing to work in the medical field.

May you find comfort in knowing that Barbara has moved on to a spiritual world of pure perfection.

May you remain close in your love for each other, continue to laugh and enjoy the good times and comfort each other during difficult times.

With sympathy,

Debbie Shaner
