Ida Mae Brown was born in Denton, MD on June 9, 1926.
She departed from her earthly life to be received into God’s Heavenly Realm on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the age of 92 at The Caroline Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Denton, MD.  She lived her entire life in Caroline County and it was through their school system that she received her education.

Ida Mae was also affectionately known to most as “Ibbie”. In her young life, she joined and was an active member of The John Wesley Church which later became Metropolitan United Methodist Church where she was the Vice President of the Ushers Board, a member of the Senior and Gospel Choirs and she was also instrumental in implementing Brown’s Friends and Family Day.

Ibbie was a diligent worker. She was employed at The Sewing Factory in Federalsburg, MD for many years where she learned the skill of sewing. She used that craft to create most of the Sunday “Church going attire” that her and her mother adorned with pride. She was also employed at the Caroline County Senior Center in Denton, MD for many years until she retired to enjoy life driving around her sister Sarah and anyone else brave enough to ride with her all around Denton.  She enjoyed sitting on her front porch in her rocking chair and spending time visiting her family and friends chatting about the old days as she would say.

Ida Mae was born to the late Charles Emerson Brown “Pop” and Bertie Mae Brown, and Step Mother, the late Pearl Brown.  She will be received into the loving arms of her sisters; Audrey Patterson,
Ella Milligan, Elizabeth Jackson and Melvina Murray as well as her brothers; James, Thomas “Tit”, William and Alfred Brown.

She leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Sarah Staten of Denton, MD and one Sister-n-law, Alice Brown of Denton, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

I am sorry to hear of Ms Ida Mae's passing. I always enjoyed waiting on her when she would come into the bank. She and Ms Sarah were always up to no good (in a good way). Gosh a have many fond memories of her. My most favorite is it was around thanksgiving and we were talking about pies and she asked me to make a few for her dinner. I was so honored to have been able to do this for her you have no idea how happy i was. I think of her often as I pass her house. I am glad to be able to say that I knew this gem.

Megan
