Lavonne Bratcher Obituary

Matthew 5:12 declares that "great is your reward in heaven." LaVonne Denise Bratcher of Greenwood, Delaware, completed her earthly assignment on Monday, March 11, 2024. Her earthly journey began on July 15, 1968, when she was born to Gloria Jenkins and the late Roland Jenkins.

She attended Dorchester County Public Schools and graduated from North Dorchester High School Class of 1986.

Hard work was ingrained in LaVonne’s early in life, and she did not shy away from any task assigned to her. She was a dedicated employee for eighteen years (18) at Black and Decker, and then her assignment moved her to Jason Pharmaceutical (Medifast), Ridgley, Maryland. She started as a production worker on this assignment, demonstrating a solid work ethic, and became an operational manager. LaVonne understood that the word "Love" is a verb, and she put it into action by loving all her employees. She supported them on a professional and personal level, mentoring them and showing them how to live meaningful lives.

LaVonne was known as "The Boss" of the family. No matter the circumstances, she was there to provide guidance and strength. She was a faithful Ravens fan, and from pre-season to the end of the season, she would wear her purple with pride.

Her most incredible pride and joy was hearing LaRhonda call her Mommy. From the beginning, God always knew what we needed and declared it was "not good for man to be alone; I will make a helper suitable for him" (Genesis 2:18). God blessed LaVonne with a perfect match. In 2016, she married the late Vincent Bratcher, Sr., who stood faithfully by her side for eight years and helped to raise a beautiful family and life together.

Faith in God was instilled in LaVonne from a young age. She was a founding member of One Love Ministries, Inc. She served as a Trustee, Financial Treasurer, and on the Hospitality Committee. Life was good for LaVonne. She filled her dash with everything that mattered most love, laughter, family, and friends, and she wouldn't have had it any other way.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Gilbert Waters, and paternal grandparents, Roland and Ernestine Jenkins. Her nephew TyRon Lake and stepdaughter Tishee Bratcher.

LaVonne leaves to cherish her loving memories her mother, Gloria Jenkins, Hurlock, MD; one daughter, LaRhonda Jones, Hurlock, MD; a bonus daughter, Teria Hawkins, Hurlock, MD; two step-sons, Vincent Bratcher, Jr. Ridgley, MD; Damere Bratcher Chestertown, MD; two sisters Charmaine Elliott, Bridgeville, DE; Gabby Jenkins; three brothers, Marvin Jenkins (Yvonne) Odenton, MD; Roland Brummell, Cambridge, MD; Cortlan Jenkins; her grandmother, Mrs. Mildred Waters, Hurlock, MD; two nephews; Darrion Jenkins Cambridge, MD,  Karon Lake, Hurlock, MD; one niece Tymish Jones, Cordova, MD; one great niece, Kyla Lake Salisbury, MD, best friends, Charlotte Wilson of Washington, DC, Love Hubbard Federalsburg, MD;  and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
